24 Chadian soldiers killed in Boko Haram attack

The militant group Boko Haram has killed 24 people in an attack on military personnel in the Central African country of Chad. Besides, many more were injured.
The incident took place on Wednesday in the western region of Lake Chad, AFP reported, citing a local government official.
The deputy prefect of the region, Haki Jiddi, told AFP on Thursday that members of Boko Haram attacked while patrol troops were resting.
Confirming the attack, Chad’s army spokesman General Azem Bemrandoua Aguona said the attack took place on the island of Tchoukou Telia, 190 kilometers (116 miles) northwest of the capital, N’Djamena.
However, he did not provide any information about the casualties.
