24 Bangladeshis returned from Myanmar after serving various terms
After serving various terms in Myanmar, 24 Bangladeshis returned to the country through the Teknaf border in Cox’s Bazar. Among them – 8 are from Rangamati, 3 from Bandarban, 12 from Teknaf and one from Rajshahi.
A press conference organized by 2 BGB Battalion at Teknaf Jetty on Tuesday afternoon informed that a flag meeting was held with the 9-member Bangladesh delegation and the 7-member Myanmar delegation at the transit/exit point No. 1 in Mondu inside Myanmar at around 9:30 am.
The Bangladesh delegation was led by Teknaf 2 BGB Battalion Commander Lt. Colonel Faisal Hasan Khan and the Myanmar delegation was led by Lt. Commanding Officer of Border Guard Myanmar Police Branch No. 4 Police Lt. Colonel J Ling Ang.
During the two-hour friendly atmosphere, issues of mutual interest including prevention of drug smuggling, suppression of human trafficking and crackdown on terrorist activities at the border were discussed.
The returning prisoners have been taken to the institutional quarantine by UNO and Upazila Health Officer.
