Another 237 dengue patients were admitted to different hospitals across the country in the preceding 24 hours which is highest number of daily cases.

It was said in a regular online bulletin of the Directorate General of Health Services on Saturday.

Of the new dengue patients, Dhaka alone saw 218 people being admitted to hospitals in 24 hours. The rest are from outside Dhaka.

Yesterday, 196 people were hospitalized with dengue. Of them, 194 were residents of capital alone.

On Friday, 170 people were hospitalized with dengue. Dhaka alone reported 164 cases.

Earlier on Thursday, the health department said a maximum of 194 dengue patients had been admitted to the hospital in the preceding 24 hours. Of them, 181 were residents of Dhaka. While 153 people were admitted to the hospital with dengue on Wednesday.

According to the Department of Health (DGHS), 1,069 people have been infected with dengue since January this year. All but 47 are residents of Dhaka. A total of, 1,307 people have been infected this month while 272 people were infected in June and 43 in May.

Meanwhile, data on three patients who died on suspicion of dengue has been sent to the government’s Institute of Pathology, Disease Control and Research (IEDCR) for review. However, the IEDCR has not confirmed any deaths from dengue so far this year.

April to October is usually considered as dengue season. However, in previous years, the highest number of dengue cases was seen in June-July. A few days of intermittent rains have affected the Aedes mosquito breeding. Experts have advised being more careful in case of fever as the symptoms of corona and dengue are close.
