A 22-km traffic tail has been created due to an accident on Tangail-Bangabandhu Bridge Highway. The tailback was created on the highway since Friday morning from Bangabandhu Bridge East to Rabna in Tangail sadar upazila on Friday morning.
Yasir Arafat, in-charge of the Elenga Highway police outpost confirmed the matter.
On spot, it was seen that transport pressure is high, especially, in North Bengal lanes, increasing the suffering of drivers and passengers. Besides, transportation of goods including raw materials is also in trouble. Police are working to reduce traffic congestion.
“I got stuck in traffic at Rabna bypass at 5 am,” said a North Bengal bus driver Rustam, remarking that it took two and a half hours to reach him “one kilometer”.
A passenger named Karim Khan said he becomes restless due to heat and traffic tail. “We don’t even know when the traffic will be normal,” he added.
Yasir Arafat, in-charge of the police outpost, said a truck crashed near Bridge No. 16 on the Eastern highway of Bangabandhu Bridge in the morning. No casualties were reported. However, it took a long time to remove the truck, causing traffic tails.
The traffic on the highway is becoming normal gradually, he added.
