Presence of patients has been reduced at Kaliganj Upazila Health Complex in Jhenaidah due to the panic of coronavirus transmission. There are 21 doctors against only 10 patients at this 50-bedded hospital.

There are around 4.5 lakhs residents in the upazilla. But hospital authority said many people are taking medical advice from doctors staying their home.

At the hospital on Sunday morning, it was found that some patients in the outdoor were leaving the hospital immediately after consulting the doctor. Of the admitted patients, seven are in the male ward and three in the female ward.

According to the hospital data, on Saturday there were 15 admissions to the male ward and 13 to the female ward. On March 23 and 24, there were 40 patients. On March 22 the number was 48. The number jumped down to 10 within a week over coronavirus impact.

Hospital Gate's medicine dealer Abdus Sabur said he had never seen the little numbers of patient at the hospital before. One or two are coming to buy medicines and returning home on hurry. As if they get relief as soon as they could escape the hospital area. They are going through an unknown panic over covid-19.

Upazila Health Complex RMO Dr. Sultan Ahmed said no one has yet been infected with coronavirus in the upazila. But people are avoiding hospital fearing coronavirus transmission.
