2 workers electrocuted in Rampura

Two workers died due to electrocution in the capital’s West Rampura.

The accident took place around 8:00 am on Monday at Omar Ali Lane’s Lohar Gate. 

The deceased were identified as Mazharul Islam of Matlab upazila in Chandpur and Arif of Haluaghat upazila of Mymensingh.

“Two workers were working piling at Omar Ali Lane’s Lohar Gate area. During this, a worker was electrocuted, and when another one came forward to save him, he was also electrocuted. Later, other workers rescued them and took them to Rampura’s Better Life Hospital where duty doctors declared them dead. On information, police recovered the two dead bodies,” ‍said Md Shariful Islam, officer-in-charge (OC) of Hatirjheel Police Station.     

“After the legal process, the body was sent to the Dhaka Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy. The matter is being investigated,” he added.
