2 more coronavirus cases detected, raising total to 51

Two more people have been infected with the coronavirus in the past 24 hours, raising the total of confirmed cases to 51 while the number of death remain 5, said Institute of Epidemiology, Disease Control and Research (IEDCR) director Prof. Dr Meerjady Sabrina Flora. 

IEDCR Director Dr Flora said this through a live video conference at 3:30 pm on Tuesday.

She said, In the last 24 hours, 140 samples were tested and two people were found positive for COVID-19. No death was reported during the period. So far, 1602 samples were tested in the country.

The new cases are two men in their fifties. Six more patients recovered from the COVID-19, Prof. Dr Meerjady Sabrina Flora added.

The global death toll from COVID-19 disease caused by coronavirus jumped to 37,814 as of Tuesday. It has so far infected 785,712 people around the world, according to worldometer. Of them, 582,292 are currently being treated with 29,488 being in serious or critical condition. So far, 203,420 cases had outcomes and of them, 165,606 (81 percent) recovered.

The coronavirus, which was first detected in China in late December, is now a global epidemic. The virus has spread to about 200 countries and regions around the world. Bangladesh first detects on March 8.
