2 killed in Gopalganj road accident

Two people were killed and at least 10 people were injured in a head-on collision between a bus and a truck on Dhaka-Khulna highway in Gonapara area of Sadar upazila.

The accident happened on Monday night.

The deceased were identified as Mala Begum, 35, wife of Sobhan, a resident of Morelganj upazila in Bagerhat and the bus driver Sheikh Shahon, 48, son of Sheikh Kabir, a resident of Bogail village in Bhanga upazila of Faridpur district.

Team leader of Gopalganj fire service, Ranendra Bala said the accident occured around 1:30 am when a bus of Khulna-bound Bonful Paribahan, which was left from Dhaka, collided face-to-face with another truck coming from the opposite direction and left the two people dead on the spot and ten other bus passengers injured.

The injured was admitted to Gopalganj General Hospital.
