Two people, including a university student, were killed as a bus hit CNG at Shibpur in Narsingdi. Three more were injured in the incident. The incident took place on Tuesday night at Chandartek area of ​​the upazila.

The deceased were identified as Lamia Akhter, daughter of Harun Mia of Dhanua village of Shibpur and Ripon Mia, a CNG driver from Boilab village of the same upazila. Lamia Akhter, a student at Patuakhali Science and Technology University.

Lamia’s mother and primary school teacher Asmaul Husna, Mojibur Rahman and Rahim were injured in the incident. The dead and injured are all CNG passengers.

“A Mathkhola-bound bus leaving from Dhaka hit a CNG coming from the opposite direction at Chandartek area of ​​the upazila on Tuesday night. CNG driver Ripon was killed on the spot,” said SI Aftab Uddin of Shibpur Model Police Station. 

Later, locals rescued the injured and took them to Shibpur Upazila Health Complex where duty doctors Lamia dead. The injured were shifted to Narsingdi Sadar Hospital and later to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) for treatment.

“The driver and helper are absconding,” said the SI adding, “Police drive continues to arrest them. Preparation for a lawsuit is underway.”
