2 hacked dead over land dispute in Pabna

Two cousin brothers were hacked to death allegedly by the rival group over land dispute in Santhia Upazila of Pabna on Saturday morning. 

The deceased were identified as Munnaf, son of Shakhawat Hossain of Nariagda village of the Upazila, and Nasir, son Shamsu Hossain of Boro Paiksha village. 

It has been reported that Munnaf bought a piece of land from Sachchu Pramanik in Nariagda market a few days ago. When he started construction work of the building there, Sachchu's brother Bachchu interrupted him over the boundaries of the land. 

As the matter was settled in the local arbitration, Munnaf started the construction work. On Saturday morning, a group of miscreants led by Bachchu attacked with sharp weapons and hacked and injured the construction workers including Munnaf. 

Nasir died on the spot while Munnaf succumbed to his injuries on the way to the hospital. Construction workers Raushan, Harun has been sent to Pabna General Hospital in critical condition.  

Santhia Police Station OC Asaduzzaman said police had been deployed in the area after the incident. An operation is underway to arrest the accused in the murder. The bodies were recovered and the injured were sent to the hospital.
