2 get life term for killing student in Kishoreganj

A Kishoreganj court on Wednesday convicted two people and sentenced them to life term imprisonment for killing college student Shafiq Azad in 1999.

The convicts are Piplu and Sajib, son of Fazlur Rahman Mallik of the area.

The court also fined them Tk 10,000, in default, to suffer six months more rigorous imprisonment.

According to the prosecution, Shafiq Azad, a first-year student of Accounting Department at Wali Nawaz Khan College, was hacked to death by a group of miscreants at Jalsa Mor area in the upazila around 7:30.

Soon after the murder, victim's uncle Alamin filed a case was filed with KishoreganjSadar Model Police Station in this connection. Police submitted charge sheet against four people after investigation.

After examining the records and witnesses, Additional District and Sessions Judge Md Abu Taher handed down the verdict acquitting four other accused.
