2 footballers killed as lightning strikes during match

Two football players were struck dead by lightning while a match was in play at a village playground in West Bengal’s Purulia in India.
The deceased were identified as Sunil Murmu, 18, resident of Fagudi village and Debendranath Hembrom, 19, resident of adjacent Kalachandpur.
According to local sources, the boys of the village were playing football at the ground of Fagudi in Barabazar in the afternoon as usual. As rain with lightning strike began, they took shelter near the playground.
The two young footballers were burnt when lightning struck a tree. Another was seriously injured. They were immediately brought to Barabazar Block Health Center, where doctors declared Sunil and Debendranath dead.
