2 autovan passengers killed in Sirajganj road crash

Two passengers of an autovan were killed when a pickup truck hit the vehicle at Shahjadpur in Sirajganj. Two more people were injured in the incident.

The accident took place on Bogura-Nagarbari Highway near Parkola bus stand in the municipal area of ​​the upazila on Friday morning.  

The deceased have been identified as Saleka Begum, wife of Anis of Parkola village and Kazli Khatun, wife of Chandu Miah. The injured are Ansar Ali and Mukta Khatun from the same village.

Hatikumrul Highway Police Station SI Hasibul Islam said a Pabna-bound pickup leaving Rangpur hit the Shahjadpur-bound battery-powered van from behind near the Parkola bus stand. The van and pickup lost control and fell into a nearby ditch and collided with a tree. At that time, two women were killed on the spot and the other two passengers were injured.  

He added that the police and fire service rescued the injured and admitted them to Shahjadpur Upazila Health Complex. The driver and helper of the pickup fled after the accident. A case has been filed in this incident.
