2 BNP activists injured in post-polls violence

Two Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) activists, including a woman, injured in a post- Union Parishad (UP) election violence at Dhopakhali village in Monohorpur union of Jibannagar upazila in Chuadanga on Friday night.

The supporters of newly elected pro-Awami League chairman Sohrab Uddin Suruddin attacked the houses and business establishments of BNP activists at Dhpakhali village around 7pm, locals said.

They said, the attackers vandalised the houses of the BNP supporters and the business establishments. Two BNP supporters Shahida Khatun (33), wife of BNP activist Mizanur Rahman and Badsa Miah, (30) - were injured in the attack, the locals added.

The by-polls to six municipalities and 37 Union Parishads of different districts across the country were held on December 28.
