At least 17 soldiers have killed when a military helicopter crashed during landing in Kenya. Six more people were seriously wounded in the incident.
The incident took place in Kajiado County, near the capital Nairobi, on Thursday.
It is learned that all of the casualties were engaged in military exercises.
However, at least 10 soldiers had been killed in the helicopter crash, reported Reuters, citing the Kenyan military and the country’s media sources. “A total of 23 people were on board the helicopter.”
A statement from Kenya’s military said the country’s Air Force Mil Mi-17 helicopter crashed in Kajiado County on Thursday. At least 10 soldiers were killed and 13 others were seriously wounded in the crash, according to the country’s media.
Morris Kirai Emerit, an eyewitness in Kajiado County, said the helicopter was making “strange noises” before it crashed - sounds a bit like an ambulance. After 10 seconds it tried to land but failed, he added.
