Heavy traffic congestion has been seen on Dhaka-Chattogram Highway since Wednesday morning. There is a 16-km tailback from Meghna Bridge’s Toll Plaza to Kanchpur Bridge. The passengers and drivers stuck in the tailback are suffering.
Shafiul Alam, a resident of Cumilla’s Chandina Upazila, got stuck in the 16-km tailback at the Mograpara crossroads bus stand in Sonargaon.“We left at 5 am to return village for Eid celebration with family. We stuck in the traffic congestion for more than four hours,” he said.
Kafil Mia, a driver of a Cumilla-bound microbus, said traffic congestions had been created ahead of Eid, resulting in the waste of time and gas.
Slow activity at the Meghna Bridge Toll Plaza and the extra pressure of the vehicles for the homebound people have created this long 16-km tailback, said Moniruzzaman, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Kanchpur Highway Police Station. “Highway police are on full-time duty on the highway.”
