16 die likely in boat sinking in Mediterranean

At least 16 people are feared to have been died as a boat sank in the Mediterranean while migrating from Libya to Europe with migrants from several countries, including Bangladesh.
According to the International Organization for Migration (IOM) in Dhaka on Saturday, 22 people were rescued alive after the boat sank off the coast of Libya on Thursday. The IOM said three of the 16 people who drowned had been rescued so far.
In addition to Bangladeshis, the boat was carrying citizens of Syria, Egypt, Somalia and Ghana, the agency said. But, it is unknown yet the number of recovered and missing Bangladeshis.
According to the IOM, about 20,000 people have died in the Mediterranean since 2014, hoping to immigrate to Europe.
