Around 1,500 more Rohingyas have left Cox's Bazar's Ukhia camp for Chattogram. Buses carrying the Rohingyas started their journey at around 1:30 pm and 3:30 pm on Monday.
Superintendent of Police of 16th Armed Police Battalion (APBN) Mohammad Tariqul Islam Tariq, who is in charge of security in the Rohingya camp, confirmed the information.
He said that about 1,500 Rohingyas left for Chattogram, from where they will be shipped to the Noakhali's Bhasan Char, on the second day (first part) of the fourth phase amid tight security.
In the fourth phase, more than 3,000 Rohingya residents of Balukhali Camp No-8 (East), 9, 10, 11, 12, and 18 of Ukhia are to be relocated to Bhasan Char.
Earlier, more than 6,600 refugees have been relocated to Bhasan Char in three phases from December 4 last year. Besides, 306 more Rohingyas heading to Malaysia illegally were rescued from the sea and sent to Bhasan Char.
Preparations are underway to relocate another group of Rohingyas from the Ukhia-Teknaf camp to Bhasan Char in the fifth phase in the next week of this month.
