140 stranded Bangladeshis return from Malaysia

A total of 140 Bangladesh citizens who were stranded in Malaysia amid coronavirus pandemic returned home from Kualalampur by a special chartered flight of Biman Bangladesh Airlines this evening.

Biman Deputy General Manager (Public Relations) Tahera Khandaker confirmed the information to Daily Bangladesh around 7pm on Wednesday. She said the aircraft landed at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) at 6:50pm.

Travelling passengers include mostly Bangladeshi students studying in different colleges and universities in Malaysia. There were also expatriate workers on the flight.

Tahera Khandaker said that all those who came from Malaysia brought health certificates. None of them is infected with the coronavirus. However, after screening at the airport, all of them will be sent to home quarantine.

Earlier, Bangladesh Biman brought back 160 Bangladeshis on another flight from Kuala Lumpur.
