14 die of COVID-19 in 24 hrs, 1531 new infected in country

As many as 14 people have died from Covid-19 in the last 24 hours, increasing the death toll from the pandemic to 6173 in the country. Besides, the tally of infections has surged to 4,30,496 as 1531 new cases were confirmed during the period.
Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) came up with the information in a press release issued on Saturday.
According to the release, a total of 11,795 samples were tested at 113 authorized laboratories across the country during the time. Besides, the recovery count rose to 3,47,849 after another 1462 patients were discharged from the hospitals during the period.
The first coronavirus death was reported in the country on March 18, ten days after the detection of the first COVID-19 cases.
The coronavirus, that first reported in China late last year, is now affecting 213 countries and territories around the world and two international conveyances. As of this afternoon, a total of 53,830,517 people has been diagnosed with the virus worldwide, as the death toll rises to 1,310,940 while 37,577,819 patients have recovered, according to worldometers data.
