Among 19 unidentified bodies, 15 will take 14 days to identify and hand over to respective families who died in Chawkbazar tragedy, old Dhaka. The crime investigation department (CID) has said that it will take three weeks or more to identify the remaining five bodies.

Additional DIG of CID Sheikh Md. Rezaul Haider said at a press conference held at the CID office in the capital on Monday noon.

Among 67 dead in Chakbazar tragedy of Old Dhaka on February 20, 19 are yet to be identified. CID is working to identify them through DNA tests. DNA samples of 38 people have been collected so far as against the 19 dead bodies.

The CID official said that among the 67 bodies, 19 bodies were yet to be identified. The rest of the body has been identified and handed over to the family under the supervision of the Deputy Commissioner. DNA samples of 38 people have been collected against 19 dead bodies as multiple claimants of the same body.

Asked whether CID will conduct a test about the accident, Sheikh Md. Rezaul Haider said we have a chemical lab in Mohakhali. If the Fire Service will ask for assistance from the concerned department, then those samples will also be assisted.

When asked about claim of the dead body he said, "We have sample samples of 67 bodies and it will be preserved for ages." If a family claims later, then it will be examined. But this challenge must definitely come through the court.
