1390 mt onion arrived from Myanmar in one day

Local traders have continued to import onions from Myanmar. On Wednesday, 1 thousand 3 hundred and 89.959 metric tons of onion have been arrived by 17 trawlers for 12 local traders at Teknaf land port.

So far, a total of 14 thousand, 452.902 metric tons of onion have been imported from Myanmar by sea this month.

The matter was confirmed by Teknaf land port Customs Super Afsar Uddin.

He said that India stopped exporting onions from September 29 last year. Then on September 30, the first shipment came from Myanmar, with 650 tons of onion. Then, until Wednesday afternoon, a total of 75 thousand 160. 444 1tons of onion were imported from Myanmar.

He said traders were being encouraged to import more onions.

In this regard, Jasim Uddin, general manager of United Land Port Teknaf Limited, a land-management company, said traders are now importing more onions from Myanmar. Imported onions are being unloaded quickly. Until 7:30 pm, 106 onion loaded trucks left the port for different cities in the country.
