13 people were diagnosed with dengue by examining the blood of 168 students on the first day of the dengue test at Dhaka University (DU). The dengue detection device was brought to the university’s medical center on Wednesday in the midst of dengue panic.

Dr Sarwar Jahan, the chief physician of the university medical center, gave the information on Thursday afternoon. Both blood platelet count and dengue detection are being done at the clinic.

“The device- brought to the clinic for dengue detection-  its daily capacity is 150. That means a maximum of 150 students will be able to test for dengue everyday,” informed Dr Sarwar Jahan saying, “Blood samples of 168 were taken yesterday due to student pressure. However, from now on, not more than 150 samples can be taken.”

Students have demanded the closure of campuses and halls due to the increase in the incidence of dengue. On this demand, the Chhatra Union has given a memorandum to the Vice-Chancellor.
