12 devotees die during 1st phase of Ijtema

Three more devotees have died at the Bishwa Ijtema venue on Saturday. With these, a total of 12 devotees have died due to old-age complications and illnesses, in the last four days during the first phase of Bishwa Ijtema at the Ijtema venue.  

According to sources of the  Bishwa Ijtema Police Control Room, Noor Islam - hailing from Guchihata village under Katiyadi police station in Kishoreganj - died at 5:15 pm while Ali Ahmed of Sabram area of Teknaf of Cox's Bazar and Abdul Momin of Panchbibi Thana of Joypurhat died at 10:30 pm and 1:00 am on Saturday respectively. 

The first phase of the 55th Biswa Ijtema started on Friday along the banks of the Turag River in Tongi, on the outskirts of Dhaka. The largest Islamic congregation after Hajj ended with the Akheri Munajat (final prayer) on Sunday morning.
