Brahmanbaria Sadar UNO Pankaj Barua distributed food items among flood victims

The government has allocated 16,510 metric tonnes of rice as humanitarian assistance to flood victims in 33 districts. So far, 11,518 metric tonnes of rice were distributed.

According to information received from the local administrations of 33 flood-hit districts, the government has disbursed Tk 2,78,30,700 in cash among flood victims, Tk 1,40,00,000 lakh for baby food, Tk 1,77,79,000 for fodder and 1,34,236 packets of dry foods till Sunday.

Besides, the government also distributed 100 bundles of corrugated iron sheets and Tk 3 lakh cash for building houses in the flood-hit areas.

The flood-affected districts are Dhaka, Gazipur, Tangail, Manikganj, Faridpur, Munshiganj, Rajbari, Madaripur, Shariatpur, Gopalganj, Kishoreganj, Mymensingh, Netrokona, Jamalpur, Chandpur, Noakhali, Laxmipur, Brahmanbaria, Rajshahi, Nogan, Pabna, Rangpur, Kurigram, Nilphamari, Gaibandha, Lalmonirhat, Sylhet, Moulvibazar, Habiganj, and Sunamganj.

According to the statement, the number of flood-hit unions is 1079 while the people of 163 Upazilas have been affected.

Some 54,77,569 people and 9,82,277 families have been marooned. The local administrations have opened 1,365 shelter centres for flood victims and 43,338 people have taken shelter till date. The death toll from the floods has risen to 41 so far.

The number of cattle have taken to shelter is 71,192. Besides, 317 medical teams are working in the flood-hit areas while the authorities concerned have constituted 883 medical teams for providing treatment to the people affected by flood.
