11 militants dead in Afghan airstrikes

As many as 11 militants have been killed and three others injured as fighting planes struck Taliban gathering in Afghanistan's northern Badakhshan province on Sunday.
According to an army statement released on Monday, a group of Taliban militants were gathered in Randikhan area of restive district Raghistan to launch attacks on security checkpoints but the national army's fighting planes targeted the gathering Sunday afternoon, killing 11 insurgents including their commander Qari Masab and injuring three others.
A hideout of the militants was also destroyed during the raids, the statement added.
However, no security personnel or civilians had been hurt in the airstrikes. - Xinhua
