100 tons fishes killed by poisoning, Tk 5cr loss

It has been alleged that about 100 tons of fishes were killed by poisoning in the pond due to hostility in Ashulia of Savar. The owner of the pond claimed that it made losses of more than five crore taka.
The incident took place at a fish farm called 'Pran Prakriti Agro' near Dewan Idris Ali School and College in Jirabo area of Ashulia on Thursday night.
The owner of the pond Shariful Islam said, “I have been farming fish in the pond since 1998. The miscreants poisoned my pond at some point on Thursday night. More than 100 tons of carp fish died in the pond. Its market value is more than five crore taka.”
“My father Chan Mia Bepari from Jirabo village. We, five brothers, were farming local putti fish including rui, katal, silver carp, brighead carp, tengra by spending crores of taka in a big pond of our own 66 bigha pond. There has been no such loss in the last 22 years. The enemies have killed our fish with poison.”
Meanwhile, Savar Upazila Senior Fisheries Officer Harun-ur-Rashid said representatives have been sent to inspect the site. Besides, those involved in the incident will be brought under the law, said UNO Shamima Ara Nipa of Savar.
