Referring to the 100 percent electrification will be done across the country in Mujib Borsho, State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Nasrul Hamid on Monday said 10 million customers will be brought under prepaid electricity meters during the present government tenure.
“All power lines will be underground in 3 to 4 years. The first work will start in Dhanmondi,” he said while briefing at the Secretariat in the capital.
Even in storms and rains, the power connection will not be disrupted in the underground line. Uninterrupted power supply will be ensured, he said, mentioning, “Reducing system losses will benefit the state and the people. The suffering of the customer will be reduced.”
The State Minister said the government would deliver electricity to households before the speculated time. “Now there will be a demand to provide quality and uninterrupted electricity. That too will be timely. 100 percent electrification will be done in the whole country in Mujib Borsho,” he added.
Anisur Rahman, Senior Secretary at the Department of Energy and Mineral Resources, said the government had no plans to provide gas lines to homes. Now the price of LPG will also be fixed by the Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission (BERC).
