A clash broke out between the relatives of the patient and the security personnel of Ragib-Rabeya Medical College Hospital in Sylhet over the allegation of the patient's death due to wrong treatment on Wednesday afternoon.
At least 10 people from both sides were injured in a chase-counter chase. Upon receiving the news, Sylhet Jalalabad police went to the spot and brought the situation under control.
The deceased was identified as Fuljan Bibi, resident of Islamabad area of Golapganj upazila of Sylhet.
According to the deceased's husband and sons, Fuljan Bibi died three days ago due to wrong treatment and the medical authorities left the body in the ICU even after her death. Later, the hospital authority demanded ICU bill.
Police said there was unrest between relatives and security personnel over the patient's death and some vandalism took place. Upon receiving the news, the police rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control.
However, when our correspondent phoned the hospital director's he did not receive the call. Officials at the hospital were reluctant to talk about it.
SMP Jalalabad Police Station OC Nazmul Huda Khan said, "After receiving the news of the clash, we reached the spot with sufficient force and brought the situation under control. The situation is calm now. However, talks are underway with both sides to avoid an unpleasant situation."
