10 burnt as bus catches fire at Farmgate

At least 10 people sustained burn injuries after a fire broke out a bus in front of Alaraji Hospital of Farmgate in the capital around 11 am on Saturday.

The bus of Rida Paribahan was going to a Bangladesh Chhatro League (BCL) program. The injured were taken to the Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH). 

The injured were identified as Akash, Rana, Sourov, Rayhan, Kabbo, Rowshan, Mehedi Hasan Hira, Rifat, Kamrujjaman and Sabbir Kabir. 

Bachchu Mia, Incharge of DMCH Police Camp, said that the injured people burnt a little bit. One or two percent of their body burnt in the fire, somebody`s hands, somebody`s mouth.

Majharul Islam, Officer-in-Charge of Tejgaon Police Station, said there were several gas balloons inside the vehicle. It is assumed that someone might have smoked in the bus and a blast from it.

Ataur Rahman, the Duty Officer of the Fire Service`s head office, said, we found two or three seats burnt in the bus, but did not get the fire. The cause of the fire is still unknown.
