Thirty-four rights groups on Thursday demanded that the political parties announce manifestos with measures to contain illicit flow or capital flight, bank money embezzlement and black money.

They also called for stopping the culture of political patronage to create 'Robber Baron' in the country and making the loan information of candidates in the forthcoming election public.

The demand was made from a human chain formed by the rights bodies in front of the Jatiya Press Club.

Moderated by Mostafa Kamal Akanda of EquityBD, the programme was also addressed by Md Shariful Islam of Bangladesh Foundation, Mahbub Khokan of Jatiya Unnayan Parishad, Feroza Begum of Bachte Sheko Nari, Qader Hazari of Aorpon, Sayed Aminul Haque, Ahsanul Karim and Rezaul Karim Chowdhury of EquityBD.

The rights groups demanded that loan defaulters, those who rescheduled the loan again and again and Bangladeshi nationals whose names surfaced in the Panama and Paradise papers should not be given nomination in the election.

There should be a white paper on Bangladesh Bank reserve heist and share market scam, and those responsible for the incidents should be given punishment, they said.
