No one above the law: Speaker

Speaker Dr. Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury on Monday said everyone must be respectful to the law as no one in society is above the law.

"The role of judges is important in the law as they performed with honesty and firmly to establish the rule of law. Equality and impartiality in the society will be established through the law and in its absence, there will be misuse of power," she said while addressing the award giving ceremony of the Justice Sikandar Ali Memorial Scholarship -2018, held at Nabab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban on the campus as chief guest.

The three important parts of the state are -Executive, Legislature and Judiciary and these are performing their duties for the sake of the people.

Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Professor Akhtaruzzaman inaugurated the programme while Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Anisul Haque also addressed the programme.

The Law Minister also made a presentation titled 'Rule of Law' at the programme.

Jayanta Kumar Mridha and Iffat Sajia Meem received the cheques from the speaker.
