Through this app, one can get the services of the fisheries officer with audio or video call by sending pictures of affected fish, watercolor and pond’s condition. As a result, fish farmers will get the right services at the right time. By using this app to receive fisheries counseling services, the time, cost and transportation of farmers will be reduced.
Meanwhile, a fish farmer has to spend Tk 50-300 and 1-3 days to avail 1-3 times fishery advice/ service in a month. Using this app, one can get the expected service within 5-10 minutes spending Tk 1-10, instant. As a result of this, due to proper counseling, both of the death of fish and the financial loss of the farmers will be reduced.
Nadim Mahmud, a fishery farmer in Nagari area, said, “When I started fish farming first, the fish died at several times. Then, I contacted the Upazila Fisheries Office on the advice of locals. But I have to face many problems with carrying dead fish. By using the mobile app ‘Dr.Fish’ I can solve this problem easily.”
Al-Amin, a fish-farmer said, “Some time fisheries officers were seen in the meeting or training when they went with the problem to the upazila fisheries office. The service was not available. But now, they do not need to go to the fisheries office anymore. A fish doctor is available on mobile.”
Md. Latifur Rahman, fisheries officer as well as the inventor of ‘Dr. Fish’ informed, “Farmers don’t come to the fisheries office considering transport cost of the service. The disease detection is lost due to dead fish coming out to fisheries office. With the help of proper advice to the fish farmers, so that the fish death will be reduced, ‘Dr.Fish (fish doctor)’ has been invented to that target.”
Latifur Rahman mentioned that Kaliganj UNO Khandakar Md Mushfiqur Rahman and A2I project have afforded him to make this mobile app.
Khandakar Md Mushfiqur Rahman said, “Making fisheries related services available, in order to increase the quality of service and to ensure immediate service, ‘Dr. Fish (fish doctor)’ app will create unique levels and speeds.”
